Comments:

Haloferax volcanii Pus3, a homolog of bacterial TruA and yeast Pus3, is responsible for the pseudouridylation of position 39 (Ψ39) in tRNAs. Based on known activities of E. coli TruA and S. cerevisiae Pus3, it is also likely that this homolog catalyzes Ψ38, although this has not been directly confirmed in H. volcanii. Pus3 is not essential in H. volcanii, as viable deletion strains can be obtained.
